FAQ - Frequently asked questions
How do you make white bean soup creamy without dairy?
This soup gets its creamy texture from blended white beans and coconut cream rather than dairy. The beans naturally thicken the soup, while coconut cream adds richness without affecting the savory flavor.
Does nutritional yeast make this soup taste like cheese?
Nutritional yeast adds a subtle cheesy, umami flavor but doesn’t make the soup taste like actual cheese. It enhances savoriness while keeping the recipe completely dairy-free and vegetarian.
Is this white bean soup vegan and gluten-free?
Yes, this soup is naturally gluten-free and can be vegan if all ingredients used are plant-based. Use a vegetable base broth, and dairy free butter. Always check labels on broth and coconut cream to ensure they meet your dietary needs.
Can I freeze creamy white bean soup?
Yes, this soup freezes well. Let it cool completely, then store it in airtight containers for up to 3 months; thaw overnight in the fridge and reheat gently.
What white beans work best for this soup?
Cannellini beans, navy beans, or great norther beans all work well. Cannellini beans create the creamiest texture, but any white bean will produce a delicious result.
