Spicy and Crispy Garlic Tofu

- Medium size Mixing bowl
- Frying Pan
- STOVE TOP
- Spoon
- Whisk
- Garlic Press
- Tbsp, tsp, 1/2 tsp, 1/4 tsp
- 1 package Firm Tofu, non-gmo and organic preferred
- 3 tbsp Tamari low sodium, gluten free soy sauce
- 1 tsp Toasted Sesame oil
- 1 tbsp Maple Syrup
- 1 tsp minced or ground ginger (fresh or dry)
- 1/4 tsp Smoked Paprika
- 1 clove Garlic crushed
- 1/2 tsp Red Pepper Flakes or hot sauce of choice (Depending on your degree of heat)
- 1/4 cup Sunflower oil or Refined Coconut oil for frying

Tofu Press instructions: Wrap paper towels around the tofu, then wrap a towel around the paper towel to soak up most of the water. Set the wrapped tofu in the middle of 2 baking pans. Place something heavy on top 15 – 30 minutes.

Meanwhile start making the tofu marinate. In a medium size mixing bowl, add in the garlic, ginger, tamari, sesame oil, maple syrup, smoke paprika, and red pepper flakes or hot sauce of choice, Mix all together.

When the tofu is ready, discard the paper towels, Cut the Tofu into small bite size squares and place them into the marinate. Close the lid and shake around the tofu to cover completely with marinate. Set aside for 15 minutes to infuse the flavours.
Shake around the tofu again, and set aside for another 15 minutes.

Add 2 tbsp of the cornstarch to the tofu mix, toss around, keep adding in the rest of the corn starch and toss around again until all tofu is covered in a white layer.

Set frying pan on stove to medium heat. Add the oil and let heat for 1 minute then reduce the heat to medium low.

Using a slotted spoon, scoop out some of the tofu and add it to the heated oil. Leave the loose cornstarch in the container. When all the tofu is in the pan begin to Cook all sides for 1 min per side or until they start to turn golden brown. Do not allow to burn. Reduce heat if they start burning.

Remove from heat and serve with option of rice, gluten free noodles, vegetables, or even on a salad.
