Crispy French Fries with Cheese - Vegan GF

Air fryers is a great investment to make lots of crispy food. Avoiding the use of heavy oils. Lowering your fat and fried intake.
Cheese and potatoes are just meant to be together!
Enjoy with your choice of cheese or vegan cheese. My favourite is the Violife shredded chedder.

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Paring knife or vegetable peeler
  • Medium size Mixing bowl
  • tbsp, 1/2 tsp, 1/4 tsp

Ingredients
  

  • 5-6 Russet potatoes work the best, but you can use yellow potatoes as well.
  • 1 tbsp Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp Himalayan salt or sea salt ground
  • 1/4 tsp Black Pepper ground
  • 1 bag Vegan cheese shredded of choice. I used Violife shredded cheddar.

Instructions
 

  • Wash, peel and chop the potatoes into slices. Place in a bowl.
    Add the olive oil, salt and pepper and mix well.
  • Add the French fries into the basket of the air fryer.
    Set to air fry, 375°F, and 30 minutes on the timer. Close the lid and it will begin cooking.
    In 10 minutes, use oven mitts to flip the hash browns around so they cook and crisp evenly. Repeat this again in 10 minutes.
    Depending on the size of your French fries, if they all look crispy, browned nicely but not burned then stop the fryer. If they still need a few minutes, then cook for an additional 5 minutes to the air fryer.
  • Add a piece of parchment paper to the baking tray. Add the cooked French fries and cover with shredded cheese.
    Oven broil for 5 minutes or until the cheese starts to melt. Do not let burn.
  • Ready to serve warm with the melted cheese. Serve with a side of your favourite organic ketchup optional.
